Jeronimos Monastery Lisbon, Portugal
Inside the Barrio de Belem of Lisbon, lies the Jeronimos Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jeronimos), one of the most famous in the city.
The Jeronimos Monastery in Lisboa was ordered by Manuel I, and designed by architect Diego de Boitaca in the 16th Century.
The monastery was built in honor of Vasco Da Gama's arrival to the neighborhood after his discovery in the Americas. Its style is partly Gothic and also part Renaissance, and in the interior lies the tomb of Vasco Da Gama. This is one of the most important monuments in Portugal.
